Paris in summer is a great idea! The city is beautiful, terraces are everywhere, people are happy, and the sunlight creates a stunning atmosphere.
Here are our must-do activities in Paris during the summer:
- First, enjoy the terraces! Most terraces are only open during summer, so it's the perfect time to savor a cold glass of champagne while sitting at a lovely terrace with a view.
- Spend a day in the gardens. There are plenty of gardens and parks in Paris. Some of our favorites are Tuileries Garden, Luxembourg Garden, Place des Vosges, and Parc des Buttes-Chaumont.
- Visit one of the two forests near Paris: The Bois de Vincennes or the Bois de Boulogne (right next to Fondation Louis Vuitton). Both offer plenty of activities, like renting a boat on the lakes, having picnics, biking, and more. We’ll need to do a special post about these forests, as they are quite large.
- Picnics! Paris is the perfect city for picnics. No matter where you go, you’ll have a beautiful view, and Parisians are experts at making picnics everywhere. Some of my favorite picnic spots are Champ de Mars for a view of the Eiffel Tower, Pont Neuf for sitting by the Seine, any of the parks mentioned earlier, and the Carrousel du Louvre Garden.
- Enjoy the "beaches" on the Seine. During summer, chairs and beach lounges are set up along the Seine so you can enjoy the sun by the river.
- Grab a drink at the boat restaurants docked along the Seine! These boats are only open during summer, so it's the perfect opportunity to have fun at these floating restaurants.
- Eat ice cream from Berthillon. Berthillon is a local ice cream shop you can't miss. We highly recommend the pistachio flavor.
Now you’re ready to have fun this summer in Paris!
